Design: Gordon, Duff & Linton

Project Summary

This Hammersmith property began life as three separate apartments before undergoing a complete transformation into a beautifully layered family home. The ambition was to create a space that felt calm, organised and effortlessly elegant, where every detail had purpose and every room worked hard for modern family living.

The Design Brief

The brief called for a balance of style and practicality. The home needed to function just as comfortably for relaxed family movie nights as it did for entertaining friends and guests.

Architectural Detail & Collaboration

Working closely with the design team at Gordon, Duff & Linton, the scheme blends contemporary detailing, including sculptural arches, a striking staircase and steel framed doors, with carefully considered, period appropriate architectural mouldings. The result is a home that feels both timeless and distinctly modern.

The Flooring Scheme

Flooring played a key role in unifying the spaces. A bespoke herringbone parquet finish, Antico, was designed specifically for this project.

Herringbone With Double Border

Laid throughout the ground floor, the herringbone pattern is framed with a refined double border, adding structure and subtle elegance to the expansive layout.

Planks Across Upper And Lower Levels

On the upper floors, prime grade Antico planks were introduced across the landings and bedrooms, creating a softer, more relaxed feel while maintaining continuity. The same plank flooring continues into the lower ground floor, where the kitchen is located, grounding the space with warmth and cohesion.

The Finished Result

Despite the scale and complexity of the renovation, the flooring installation was completed over a three week period, delivering a seamless, considered finish across all levels of the home.
