The Design Brief
Tucked away in the heart of Chelsea, this family home began a six-month journey of transformation — reimagined from the ground up to become a calm, elegant space designed for modern family life. Led by renowned interior design studio Zulufish, the vision was clear: a home that felt timeless, cohesive, and beautifully considered in every detail.
Our role was to create a flooring scheme that would quietly anchor the entire interior. One that flowed effortlessly from room to room, enhanced the architecture, and delivered a refined, slate-grey tone without any unwanted warmth or yellow undertones.
Precision Preparation
Behind the scenes, precision was everything. Extensive subfloor preparation ensured that timber flooring and tiled areas met perfectly flush, allowing transitions to disappear and the spaces to flow uninterrupted — exactly as the client envisioned.
Bespoke Stair Cladding
The staircase became a quiet focal point. Custom-clad in matching timber, it introduces a layer of craftsmanship and tradition, subtly contrasting with the home’s contemporary lines and adding depth to the overall design narrative.
The Flooring Scheme
The solution came in a carefully curated combination of prime-grade Versailles panels, wide plank flooring, and bespoke stair cladding, all finished in our signature slate grey. Versailles panels were introduced in the main lounge, bringing a sense of grandeur and classical balance to the space. From there, wide planks guide you through the surrounding rooms, creating continuity while allowing each area to breathe.
The Finished Result
Completed in just two weeks, the installation was the final chapter in this home’s renovation story — bringing warmth, balance, and cohesion to a beautifully reimagined family residence.
